The “Juggle”
Time after time again I am always asked (usually by a small child) to spin the rope continuously over my head like they do in the cartoons. You’ve seen this one….they spin it around and around seemingly oblivious to the laws of gravity. Then at just the right time they throw the loop out and “walla” the perfect catch. It looks great but unfortunately unless they change the laws of physics it’s an impossible feat to perform in real life.
The answer to this is what I and many other ropers call the “Juggle” The juggle is simply this: A wedding ring (what ropers call a rope being spun around them) that is thrown high into the air multiple times over and over. In essence “juggling” the rope. It’s an amazing trick and a real crowd pleaser. Although the rope never stays up like in the cartoons, it’s about as close as you can get to the infamous cartoon spin.
The juggle is one of my favorite tricks and is a great trick to learn!
A variation of this trick would be to throw the last juggle upwards out and over to catch a moving or stationary target as shown in the pics.
Happy Trails!
